My GC8 is ALIVE!!! [Oct. 10th, 2006|10:06 pm]
[Current Mood |accomplishedaccomplished]

So after about a year of waiting for parts, and working on the engine swap for one month, I gave the car on Sunday a quick start and hoped it would at least run.

Vroooooom!!!!!! Sputter.....................Vrooooom!!!!!!

Yes my fire nads, it runs finally! Of course, that doesn't guarantee that it will run to move 2500lbs of sheet metal and human.

I was only able to run it for at most 30 seconds, because I didn't have my radiator fans spliced into the ECU yet, but it ran, NO CELs, and only sputtered for about a bit and then idled fine. That should confirm my wiring handy work was sufficient, which is utterly satisfying (aside from the radiator fan wiring.

I'll be wiring up the fans and then shoving coolant and hopefully give the car a test drive this weekend!

Here are some pictures prior to start up, I haven't taken any current pics as I was wayyy too excited to get it running :) .

More here in this album if interested:

Mystery and memory. [Jun. 19th, 2006|09:58 pm]
Have you ever noted/remembered an individual solely by the way they look and the time and place you see them? But do not ever recognize them elsewhere if you were to see them on the streets?

I just visited my dentist Dr. Siew over in Ravenna. He has been my dentist for about over 10 years. He has a small clinic that accommodates an abundant amount of clients and is also a internship site for Dentistry students of colleges, mainly UW.

He has short hair, wears a button-up shirt and slacks, and wears round glasses that seem to magnify his eye size by 1.25 percent on the exterior.

Finally, he wears a surgical mask. All the time.

And seriously, that is all I know of him as far as appearence. For these past 10 years or so.

Normally, you would see doctors/dentists take off their masks after a period of time. Quite honestly, I have never seen his entire face.

I have always wondered what he would look like and thought about asking him just recently, but I will be leaving it to the way it is now, since it seems to be fitting for the amount of years I've known him as a dentist with the mask. I'd probably be shocked if it was ever revealed.

Dubya tee eff?!? [May. 24th, 2006|08:05 pm]
This guy...

Stinkin' tool copied my idea. Found this while browsing for any RS25 hopefuls. Ripped my rally-themed comment jobber >:( Sad part is that he is on NASIOC and I've seen him tote around.

Took a screenshot for posterity. :D

Photos are here! [May. 5th, 2006|05:51 pm]
So I uploaded these a while ago. And forgot about them :/

Please do not hesitate if you have any questions about certain photos as I would love to answer them! I typed some captions according to each photo, but didn't do all of them.

So here are a few to see, the non-crappy ones.

Ok, the last one was a good potential photo that went wrong, I didn't bring a tripod and so long duration exposure + wind + using hand rail to stabilize = eek. This was unfortunately the case with a lot of the other photos :(

Anyways, here is the link to see all 400+ photos!

Back home.. [Apr. 27th, 2006|11:46 pm]
Finally. Since tuesday.

I've been having hard time adjusting to the time zone difference. I made a mistake sleeping after work, and I just woke up, and ate dinner in form of a chicken burger. My health will be down the crapper this week until I have time to drive to the grocery store.

Why can't I do it before. Well, I've been catching myself sleeping when I am driving. I almost reared ended someone just yesterday. So I am trying really hard to get back into the loop while reducing the number of times I get into a car. I thought I can get everything done within this week, but not being able to get anywhere and erratic sleeping is just hindering the task.

In other news, my engine has arrived in the states!

The photos! [Apr. 10th, 2006|02:23 am]
Note that these pictures were taken from the past 3 days-ish.

Blue skies and clearness. Somewhat rare to see in HK this time of the year.

Boated fish markets of Sai Kung. These people make a hard living for what they do. A majority of people standing around are really no buyers at all. Most treat this as an attraction mocking as an aquarium.

Family and us out and about.

That is all I'll post for now. Until then, I will warrant time to upload these pictures while dealing with this humid weather :)

Take care,

In Sai Kung, Hong Kong [Apr. 8th, 2006|04:57 pm]
But a little sick. It feels like I have a cold, but the symptoms are about 40% applicable.

It is like allergies, but then again my aunt said air quality isn't always the best, so it may contribute to the case since I was spoiled with clean evergreen air most of my life.

The place has changed a little more as every few years I've visited. It is a lot more cleaner, thanks to heavily imposed restrictions and jail time for littering/spitting/not cleaning up after your dog/etc.

This time around, it's not that hot here. Partly because I've never been to HK during the the early spring months, which run a little cooler. For once, I am not dependent on the A/C unit hanging outside the window. Humidity is still there, 80% to 90% of it daily.

My grandmother seems well, way better than 2 years ago the last I saw here. She is a little on the skinny side, but it seems to be a side effect from her treatment at the hospital. Result of weight loss.

Space is a little confined in my room, but it is large to HK standards. My brother and I haven't been doing much other than just hanging around a walking about Sai Kung.

I had some pictures but then, I learned to back up all my pictures on my SD card, since then tend to erase themselves after a while. :(

I'll take more, and actually back them up this time around.

In Inchon/Seoul South Korea [Apr. 6th, 2006|07:38 pm]
So I guess I'll be posting a snip of entries with pics. The plane flight is gruelingly long, and the lack of movement really gets ya. For a one way it would take about 14 hours. But with this included transfer, it will be about 17 to 18 hours. Eek.

Inchon is a wonderful looking airport, definitely one of the best alongside with HK.

Korean Air gave the best impression thus far of hospitality and service. I've ridden in Air Canada, Northwest, Southwest, Alaskan Airlines, United Airlines, and JAL. And none of those possess any of the qualities that Korean Air did. One favorite was they ALWAYS rode around the aisles every 10 to 15 minutes with drinks! And when they ran out of the chicken dinner selection, they offered me two dinners for the price of one (FTW!)!!1

They also had these neat LCD screen in the front (Like the Air Canada Airbus), with music and movies. That helped big time as it makes time go by quickly.

So here are two pics of Inchon International Airport. I might post one or two more of this Daewoo I saw later. Photobucket uploads SLOWWWWW from a HK DSL.

Eek... [Mar. 30th, 2006|03:53 pm]
I failed Math 120. I was fine with a 3.2 three-quarters of the way in to winter quarter, but somehow my final took a dive and put me at a 1.5 .

Prerequisite grading was recently mandatory, which mean I will repeat 120, and 110 since I never did pass that. 120 however, was a great class and I learned more than my 110 class. I was flawed in my confidence of the material unfortunately.

Wasted 2 quarters of my time. Pathetic me.

I'm still not sure if I should have taken the quarter off. It seems to get worse and worse as my time at SCC matures. On one thought, it feels that I can finish things where I don't have to worry about them when in next quarter. But another thought says that I may be pressed to not ever resume school at all.

Am I not who I think I should be?

Now I can't get my receipt from Snap-On so I can have proof for my tax return. Here comes the feds.

There was an emissions testing training program at work and they noted that the federal government is cracking down on non-OEM modifications to OBDII vehicles. With federal marshals having a "dead or alive" warrant for the violators. Wonderful. I think I should invest in some exotic kevlar along with my project. Here comes the feds.

Maybe the best thing for me to do is just forget about it, go to HK, finish my swap and then deal with the rest of the world later.

A break at last... [Mar. 22nd, 2006|09:49 pm]
Winter quarter officially ended today. Nice. So starts my 3 months of endless worrisome of not having homework and getting home late from work.

Now comes the guilt that is associated with not going to school, but feeling like I should be going to school.

It will be nice having a Monday through Friday schedule from waking up at 4am and leaving at 2:30pm!

HK in a few weeks...eh.

Off to bed now.
